|1996||ENAX, INC. was established
ENAX started as a pioneer of lithium-ion battery development and manufacturing. With the development of batteries for vehicles as a pillar, developed and manufactured lithium-ion batteries, or LSB (Laminated Sheet Battery), and provided consulting on the manufacturing process.
|2000||Aimed to shift from R&D contracting company to R&D and manufacturing company hoping to expand its service area from R&D to mass production to manufacturing and sales of battery packs and sales of its own lithium-ion batteries.
Participated in a project to develop and commercialize EV trucks using large Li-ion pouch cells.
|2001||Contracted development of battery modules for HEVs by a major Japanese automaker.|
|2003||Developed lithium-ion batteries for electric bikes in-house and launched the “E-bike“, an electric bicycle, using ENAX's LSB battery packs. EV Global, Inc. in the U.S. adopts ENAX's LSB battery packs.|
|2004||Developed lithium-ion battery jointly with University of Fukui and conducted running tests on streetcars (Fukui Railway)
Received the Grand Prize of "Tokyo Metropolitan Venture Technology Grand Prix" for lithium-ion battery as a substitute for lead-acid battery for automobiles.
Established a joint venture with Degussa AG (current Evonik) and started manufacturing electrodes for lithium-ion batteries in Shandong, China.
Jointly developed a battery pack unit for HEV with Continental AG.
|2005||Entered the Chinese market, establishing a materials procurement department and jointly establishing an electrode production plant in Anqiu, Shandong Province, and a battery assembly plant in Tianjin, which began operations.|
|2008||TEMIC Automotive Electric Motors GmbH and others increase capital through third-party allotment.
Worked on the commercialization of manganese (Mn) pouch lithium-ion batteries ahead of the industry. Degussa Enax (Anqiu) Power Lion Technology, which manufactures electrodes in China (capital participation by German Degussa in 2005), and Shuang Yi Li (Tianjin) New Energy Co., Ltd. (joint venture with DKS Co. Ltd.), which performs assembly were established.
